Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023) online

Satyaprem Ki Katha (lit. transl. Tale of True Love) is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film about a troubled marriage, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani as the titular protagonists. The supporting cast include Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak, Siddharth Randeria, Anuradha Patel and Rajpal Yadav. It is directed by Sameer Vidwans and jointly produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Namah Pictures.

The film was announced in June 2021. Principal photography commenced in September 2022 and wrapped up in April 2023. The film was theatrically released on 29 June 2023 to positive reviews from critics. It has grossed ₹117.77 crore (US$15 million) worldwide to rank as the eighth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and emerged as a commercial success.

Present: The film starts with Satyaprem (Kartik Aaryan) alias Sattu doing all the household works at his home. He lives with his mother, sister and father whom he is really close with. Being, a LLB failure he desires to shed of his bachelorhood but gets always rejected for being jobless. His aim is to win Katha's (Kiara Advani) heart.

One year ago: Sattu goes for an Jalsa function and get mesmerized seeing Katha's dance and falls for her at once, but is heartbroken as she is already in a relationship with Tapan.

Present: Sattu visits Jalsa function this year to see the dance of Katha again with his father. There they meet Katha's father Harikishen (A wealthy snacks shop owner and business man), her mother and her sister. By learning from them Katha is not well he goes to see her at her home, but is shocked as she commits suicide by cutting off her hand. Feeling concerned he rushes her to the hospital immediately. Katha is out of danger but is angry on Sattu for saving her although her father thanks him. Harikishen who comes to see her behaves rudely with her and scolds her not able to die properly. Unable to digest it, Katha thanks Sattu through chat.

After few days Katha recovers and Sattu lives happily in her dreams but things change when Katha's parents get proposal of Katha to Sattu's house. Sattu becomes happy and says yes to marriage but Katha is unhappy, but still recultantly agrees as Harikishen threatens to kill himself if she does not get married.

After marriage, Sattu tries to get close to her but it show Katha is not interested in her marriage or sex at all and is scared of sharing same bed. Situations get more worsen when Sattu's snoring becomes an issue for Katha due to which his family gets suspicious of her. Katha behaves rudely with Sattu at the starting but his love and calmness towards her changes her attitude and they become friends. She encourages him to complete his LLB degree.

One night while they two try to get closer, Katha emotionally breaks down and gets traumatised at once, while Sattu becomes concerned for her totally. She then reveals that she has a horrific past due to which she is not interested in a sexual relationship. Sattu decides to find it out and meets Harikishen for that. There it gets revealed that Katha was actually raped by her boyfriend Tapan after her last Jalsa dance performance last year. She became pregnant and had secretly carried out an abortion but somehow her father got to know and he started to disown her. After hearing all those, Sattu becomes angry on Harikishen for not able understand his daughter trauma and also beats Tapan black and blue. At the same time, Sattu's family confronts Katha about her adamance to not sleep with Sattu and she reveals the truth to them angering Sattu's father although Sattu's mother and sister take stand for Katha.

Sattu returns back after meeting Tapan and Katha understands Sattu's love for her. They both leave for honeymoon where Katha reciprocates Sattu's feelings but is still scared to have sex. Sattu understands her and gives her space to cope up with the situation. On the day of Satyanarayan Pooja, Sattu complains FIR against Tapan and encourages Katha to fight whereas she thanks him for coming into her life and proposes her love to him. They embrace each other while he makes his father understand his mistake and takes a stand for Katha infront of everyone.

The film ends with Sattu and Katha performing the Pooja and fighting together against Tapan in court while Sattu passes his LLB degree and Katha getting healed slowly with Sattu's support.
