Animation and South Korean studio IAM who provided their animation services for the adult animated series Velma (also produced by Warner Bros. Animation) animated the film. It is the fourth installment in the Mortal Kombat Legends series and serves as an origin story for Johnny Cage, focusing on his attempt to save his co-star Jennifer Grey while fighting a secret society that plots the destruction of Earthrealm.
The film was released October 17, 2023 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. It received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.
